Hi! I’m Kirsten

Somehow I stumbled upon running in high school. I went to a small rural school and we didn’t have cross country or track. I didn’t have much exposure to running that I remember, but found it to be a good form of exercise for me. I made a friend in college who ran “for fun” and found it to be a great stress reliever. I continued to run recreationally and even met my husband through running! I stopped running after kids and didn’t pick it back up again until my oldest was 10. I had gained weight and wanted to lose those few extra pounds. It was very hard to come back to running after such a time off, but what I found was that not only did I lose the weight, I started to lose the depression I had as well. I built up my endurance to run a 5K and worked up to run a Boston Qualifying time in my second marathon. I then discovered my love of trails and entered the world of ultramarathons.

Endurance & Endorphins; running gives both!

If you can walk, you can run. It doesn’t matter if you are overweight, underweight, young or old, you can learn to run and become a healthier, fitter person. My coaching style is no nonsense, yet fun and encouraging. I coach beginners that want to run a 5K, recreational runners who just want to stay fit and injury free and competitive runners trying to hit a PR or BQ. I also coach trail and ultra runners who don’t mind the grit and dirt.

I became an ambassador for Bigger Than The Trail in 2022. This organization creates a positive influence on mental health through awareness, community and support. One reason I run is to support my own mental health. I battle with depression and running plays a major role in keeping depression at bay.

BTTT is a 501c3 organization that uses trail running as a platform to advocate for mental health. I am donating 5% of my sales to BTTT, so by investing in your own health, you are also helping to support others.

In 2020 I ran the BTTT Block Party. It was a unique way to run a virtual race and support this wonderful organization. You can read about it Here
